My Story

I'm Lilakant (Lil) Pokhrel — a London-based Data Scientist and Full-Stack Developer originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. I moved to the UK to pursue my MSc in Data Science at York St John University, graduating top of my cohort and earning the Subject Prize for Academic Excellence.

My foundation was built during my BSc in Computer Science & IT at Tribhuvan University, where I graduated with Distinction. Those four years gave me a deep grounding in algorithms, software engineering, and systems thinking.

From Developer to Data Scientist

After graduating, I spent over three years as a Full-Stack Web Developer at Pearl Infotech, shipping production applications using ReactJS, Django, Flask, and the MERN stack. I led API integrations, collaborated on UI/UX strategy, and built reusable libraries that saved development time across multiple projects.

A pivot into the role of IT Officer at Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company — Nepal's national insurance organisation — brought data to the centre of my work. I built Power BI and Tableau dashboards, wrote complex MSSQL queries, and started telling meaningful business stories through data visualisation.

That experience drove me to formalise my data expertise through the MSc — where I studied AI & ML, Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Blockchain, and completed a research project on Text Summarisation with Deep Learning Integration.

Today

I currently hold two roles: Assistant Sales Manager at Betfred (UK), producing operational reports with Excel and Power BI; and Data Analyst (Remote) at Rastriya Jeewan Beema, building fraud detection models and executive dashboards.

I'm actively seeking a full-time role in the UK where I can apply my dual expertise in data science and software engineering to tackle real-world problems.
